The World Uses a Variety of Different Energy Sources

The world has a wide range of different sources of energy. In 2018 fossil fuels like gas, oil and coal, accounted for more than 81 percent energy consumed. Renewables, including solar power, wind power hydroelectricity and biomass, make up iDeals Data Room for 14 percent. Nuclear energy accounts for another 5percent. Different countries employ different sources of energy to meet economic needs and environmental concerns.

Nature provides energy in many forms, including sunlight, wind, waves, oceans and more. When harnessed and transformed into more efficient forms of energy, such as electricity or heat, these are known as primary sources. When these energy sources are used up, they become nonrenewable energy sources.

Many fossil fuels as well as some of the other sources of energy that aren’t renewable are damaging the environment. For example, mining for oil can destroy the forests of the planet. Fracking (hydraulic fracturing) can cause water pollution and earthquakes. Burning coal releases carbon dioxide, which contributes to global warming.

Fortunately that many of the most promising sources of energy are renewable and sustainable. Solar, wind and hydropower could produce, for instance, electricity without having to dig up new sources.

Tidal and Wave Power are the other sustainable energy sources that are emerging. However, in order to be utilized on a massive scale they must have efficient distribution networks. This requires the use of non-renewable energy sources to build these networks. As a result, these sources are not yet enough to supply the majority of our energy requirements. It is important to keep in mind that the prices of renewable energy equipment have drastically decreased in recent years and efficiency is growing.
